The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied reports of an increase in its registration fees, describing the news as false and misleading.
In a statement Thursday, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, said the fees have remained unchanged since 2019.
For the avoidance of doubt, the approved charges are ₦5,700 for Direct Entry (DE), ₦7,200 for UTME without mock, and ₦8,700 for UTME with mock.
Benjamin explained that the fees cover several components: ₦3,500 application fee, ₦1,000 reading text, ₦700 CBT centre registration service charge, ₦1,500 CBT centre UTME service charge, ₦500 bank charges, and ₦1,500 CBT mock-UTME centre charge where applicable.
He recalled that in 2018, the Federal Executive Council reduced the UTME application fee from ₦5,000 to ₦3,500, effective in 2019, and the structure has not changed since then.
“Any candidate who pays more than the approved fees should promptly report such centres with credible evidence,” the statement read.
JAMB warned against misleading publications and assured its commitment to transparency and protecting the interests of its candidates.
