The Ogun State Police Command has released TikTok personality Abigeal Nsikak, known as Mirabel, to the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development amid investigations into her rape allegation.
Last Friday, police confirmed Mirabel’s arrest after she allegedly raised a false alarm of sexual assault.
Command spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi told reporters she was in custody and cooperating with investigators.
“She is with us now and investigation is ongoing. The facts will tell at the conclusion of our investigation,” he said.
In a statement Wednesday, Babaseyi explained that Mirabel was taken to a medical facility for examination after reporting her claims.
He added that she has been released to the Ministry of Women Affairs for care and support, with assurances she will be made available whenever required.
“The command assures the public that the matter is being handled with professionalism, sensitivity, and diligence,” Babaseyi said. He cautioned against speculation or spreading unverified information that could jeopardize the investigation.
Police said further updates will be provided as the inquiry continues.
Mirabel’s story had stirred up enormous support and sympathy online, only for her supporters to be dismayed that she was all the while lying about the allegations of assault.
Popular singer Simi was caught in the online crossfire over her tweets on this matter, and her tweet history is now a subject of controversy in its own right.

I honestly find no humour in false rape allegations, you tear away authenticity from real victims and it’s not fair or right. When real ones come out and say something, it’s not as if most people believe them but with this the support system shrinks a lot more.
