The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, held its 43rd to 50th consolidated convocation ceremony, bringing together graduands from several academic sessions.
The ceremony was attended by top government and education officials, including the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai, who represented Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
The IMT rector, Professor Sunday Gozie Ogbodo in his convocation address, described the occasion as more than a celebration of academic success, noting that it symbolized the institution’s rebirth and renewed commitment to excellence.
“Today’s ceremony is not just a celebration of academic success, is a celebration of resilience, institutional rebirth, and collective commitment to excellence“, he said.
According to him, the graduates had been equipped with the knowledge, skills and values required to make positive impact in society, adding that education remained a powerful tool for national transformation.
Professor Ogbodo expressed appreciation to the Enugu State Government for its continued support to the institution, as well as to the management, staff, students, parents and alumni for their collective efforts in sustaining the school’s academic standards.
He urged all stakeholders to remain committed to building an institution defined by excellence, innovation and service to future generations.
‘‘Let us recommit ourselves to building an IMT that future generations will be proud of, an institution defined by excellent, innovation, and service’‘.
As part of the ceremony, cash prizes of ₦200,000 each were awarded to the overall best graduating students, Okafor Josephat Chima and Eva Akunna, in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
Government Restates Commitment to Education
The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Ossai, in his address, said that the Enugu State Government remained committed to strengthening the education sector through increased funding and institutional support.
According to him, the state currently invests about “30 per cent of its budget” in the education system, covering tertiary and secondary schools.
He said the investment was aimed at producing an educated population capable of driving economic growth, creativity and innovation within the state.
Barrister Ossai also advised the management of IMT to ensure that graduation ceremonies are held regularly in line with the academic calendar, to avoid prolonged delays for future graduands.
Addressing the graduating students, he congratulated them for their perseverance and urged them to remain focused as they pursue their careers, while also encouraging them to maintain strong ties with their alma mater.
He noted that institutions thrive on the goodwill and success of their graduates, adding that IMT would continue to rely on its alumni as ambassadors of the school.
