The University of Abuja has called on the public to assist in locating a 100-level student who has been reported missing.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the university’s Acting Director of Information and University Relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob, identified the student as Sadiya Usman, an Accounting student.
According to the institution, Usman was last seen on Tuesday, February 18, 2026, around 8:00 a.m., when she left her residence at Kontagora Estate in Gwagwalada, Abuja. She was reportedly heading to the university’s main campus to sit for her GST 111 CBT examination. Since then, she has not been seen or heard from.
A report from her guardian confirmed that all attempts to reach her have failed, as her phone line remains unreachable and her current whereabouts unknown.
The university stated that it has “activated internal safety protocols” and is” working closely with security agencies to ensure all necessary steps are taken to locate her safely”.
Authorities have expressed deep concern over her well-being and are appealing to anyone with useful information to come forward.
Members of the public who may have seen Sadiya Usman or have any information about her disappearance are urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the university’s Directorate of Safety.
The university reassured the public of its commitment to student welfare and security, adding that updates will be provided as the situation develops.
