Naira Trades Steady Against U.S. Dollar on February 20

The Nigerian naira recorded slight movement against the United States dollar in trading on Friday, February 20, 2026, according to figures published by Vanguard Newspaper.

Data from the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) indicated that the currency exchanged at approximately ₦1,345 to one U.S. dollar during early trading hours.

The rate reflects transactions within the official market framework supervised by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Parallel market rates were higher than the official rate, continuing a pattern observed in recent trading sessions. Exchange values in the informal market vary depending on location and availability of foreign currency.

The naira’s performance follows ongoing adjustments within the foreign exchange system, where authorised dealers and financial institutions determine rates based on market activity.

Personally it is still quite unclear why and how the naira is gaining against the dollar, even the decline in the economic environment in Nigeria. But nonetheless I do applaud honor where it is due, congratulations Nigeria…
