The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to the deaths of gospel singer Matthew Ogundele and three members of his team.
The victims — Matthew Ogundele, Itunu Ogundele, Joseph Sanya, and blogger Matthew Awosanya, popularly known as JoesTv — were found lifeless inside a music studio in the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah, Lagos.
Police say the group had performed on Tuesday night during the second day of a three-day birthday praise event organised by fellow gospel artiste Olanireti Akinbola.
After their performance, they reportedly chose to spend the night in the studio. Their bodies were discovered the following day.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the arrest.
“One suspect, identified as the organiser of the event, is currently in custody. Investigation is ongoing while we await the autopsy report,” she said.
The case, first reported at the Ajah Police Division, has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
Autopsy and Preservation
Sources confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for autopsy and preservation.
Authorities say the autopsy will help determine the cause of death and guide further investigation.
