The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will close in 17 days, on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
In its weekly bulletin released Monday, the Board urged prospective candidates to register immediately. “No extension will be granted under any circumstances,” JAMB stated.
Officials expressed concern over the low turnout at accredited centers. They warned against the recurring practice where candidates delay registration and later demand an extension.
JAMB noted that some individuals, often posing as tutorial center owners, mislead candidates into postponing registration. According to the Board, this tactic enables mass movement of candidates and creates opportunities for examination malpractice.
“This recurring pattern will not be entertained in 2026,” JAMB said, stressing that preventive measures have already been built into its planning.
Candidates are therefore advised to register early to avoid last-minute complications.
The Board emphasized that timely registration is the only way to guarantee participation in the 2026 UTME.
