Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has defended his appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, saying the role reflects his values of service, integrity, and inclusive national development.
The businessman made the remarks after hosting Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at his residence. He said the meeting allowed for wide-ranging discussions on leadership and national issues.
Reacting to public debate surrounding his appointment, Iyiegbu acknowledged the mixed reactions but insisted that meaningful change comes through constructive engagement.
“This role will not alter my principles or approach to leadership. Service and community development remain central to my work,” he said.
He explained that influence is more effective when exercised from within, noting that his decision to align openly with the City Boy Movement was deliberate.
Iyiegbu described President Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of commerce,” stressing that national progress requires collective effort across regions and political lines.
“All of us need all of us to achieve our national aspirations,” he declared, pledging to carry Nigerians of all backgrounds along in his engagement.
He called for respect for differing opinions and urged the public to focus on constructive dialogue and value-driven nation-building.
The entrepreneur thanked supporters for their goodwill and reiterated his commitment to promoting an inclusive future.
He explained that his involvement in the movement is guided by a desire to strengthen unity and foster development across the South-East and beyond.
