The immediate past Archbishop of Canterbury, Right Reverend Justin Welby, has commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for what he described as remarkable progress in restoring peace, unity, and stability across the state.

Welby spoke during a visit to the Government House in Kaduna, where he noted that the calm now prevailing in the state stands in sharp contrast to the ethno-religious tensions that once defined Kaduna.

“The prevailing calm marks a sharp contrast to the divisions I witnessed during my visit in 2002,” Welby said. He added that the peace visible today reflects deliberate reconciliation efforts and inclusive leadership.

Governor Uba Sani thanked the archbishop for the commendation, describing it as an affirmation of his administration’s peace agenda.

“Our Kaduna Peace Model, anchored on dialogue, inclusion, equity, and fairness, has guided governance in the state over the past two and a half years,” the Governor stated.

He emphasized that the model has been central to reducing tensions and fostering unity among diverse communities in Kaduna.

The Governor further assured that his administration remains committed to sustaining peace through continuous dialogue and fairness in governance.
