LASTMA Announces Traffic Diversions for Tinubu Mini-Marathon at Agege

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced traffic restrictions across Agege on Sunday to allow for a mini-marathon organised in support of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement posted on its official X platform, the agency said the race will start at the Agege Local Government Area and move through Odo Eran, Oba Ogunji, Oke Koto, Oniwaya, and Dopemu.

The route will also extend through Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road to Agbotikuyo, connect Old Ipaja Motor Road, and finish at Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area.

LASTMA confirmed that vehicular movement will be restricted along the affected roads during the event. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes to ease congestion.

Drivers coming from Wemco Road should divert through Ogba, linking via Excellent Hotel to College Road and Iju Road. Those approaching from Pen Cinema are advised to use Moshalashi Alhaja Road through Mobil Ashade to continue their journeys.

The agency urged road users to cooperate with traffic officials and plan their movements in advance to minimise inconvenience.

“Run for Asiwaju 2027”

The mini-marathon, tagged “Run for Asiwaju 2027,” is being organised by the Orile-Agege LCDA. Organisers said the event aims to promote unity, discover athletic talent, and build grassroots support for President Tinubu ahead of the next general elections.

Participation is open to youths, professionals, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, VIPs, and representatives of Hausa and Igbo communities.

Prizes worth ₦2.3 million will be awarded. The first 200 finishers will receive ₦10,000 each, while seven elite athletes will earn ₦50,000 apiece.

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, endorsed the event and confirmed he would compete in the VIP category.

He described the marathon as a reflection of Tinubu’s leadership vision. “The competition is designed to reward excellence and encourage mass participation,” Obasa said.

Organisers added that the marathon is expected to draw large crowds and showcase Lagos as a hub for sports and civic engagement.
