President Bola Tinubu has condemned the killing of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in the Chiranci community of Kano State.
The president described the incident as barbaric and deeply disturbing, saying it underscored the urgent need to confront violent crime and protect vulnerable citizens.
The victims were reportedly murdered in their home, sparking widespread outrage across Kano and beyond.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president extended condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Kano State.
“The killing of innocent children and their mother is barbaric and completely unacceptable in any society,” the statement quoted the president as saying.
President Tinubu praised the Nigeria Police Force for swiftly arresting the principal suspects linked to the killings.
He directed law enforcement authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of all those involved.
“I commend the police for their prompt response and charge them to ensure that justice is served without delay,” the president said.
The incident has renewed public concern about violent crime and domestic safety in parts of northern Nigeria.
Tinubu orders prosecution, lauds police response
President Tinubu stressed that justice must be pursued decisively to deter similar crimes and restore public confidence in law enforcement.
He instructed relevant security agencies to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the full circumstances surrounding the murders.

President mourns Kano business leader Bature Abdulaziz
In the same statement, President Tinubu expressed grief over the death of prominent Kano businessman, Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, who died over the weekend.
The president described his death as a major loss to Kano State and Nigeria’s business community.
“Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz was a respected voice in commerce whose influence extended beyond Kano to many parts of Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
The late Abdulaziz was the National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria and played key roles in several trade and commerce-related unions.
President Tinubu acknowledged Abdulaziz’s support during the 2023 presidential campaign and praised his consistent advocacy for national unity.
“Through the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace, which he founded, he promoted patriotism, unity, and peaceful coexistence,” the statement said.
The president condoled with the Kano business community, the people of the state, and the state government over the loss.
He prayed for comfort for the family and eternal rest for the deceased.
