Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has been appointed deputy chairperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) membership revalidation committee.
The party’s national chairman, Senator David Mark, inaugurated the 20-member committee on Wednesday, describing the exercise as a major step toward repositioning the ADC for growth, unity, stronger cohesion, and improved electoral competitiveness nationwide.
The committee is chaired by Kashim Imam, with Dr. Sekonte Davies serving as secretary.
Mark said the initiative reflects the ADC’s founding principles of justice, equity, accountability, and people-centred governance.
He stressed that credible and verifiable membership data is essential to legitimacy, relevance, and national political success.
The former Senate President explained that the committee, created by the National Working Committee (NWC), will oversee nationwide revalidation, fresh registrations, grassroots mobilisation, data harmonisation, and the deployment of both electronic and manual platforms to ensure transparency and proper documentation.
He added that new membership cards with state-specific security features will be introduced.
Mark urged committee members to act with integrity, fairness, and inclusiveness while collaborating with state and local leaders nationwide.
Accepting the assignment, committee chairman Kashim Imam pledged diligent and transparent service.
He described the exercise as a turning point aimed at rebuilding the ADC into an inclusive, people-driven movement across Nigeria.
Imam said the committee has 30 days to submit its report. He assured members that work had already begun to mobilise and register Nigerians across cities, rural communities, deserts, and creeks nationwide.
