JAMB Urges Early Profile Creation Ahead of 2026 UTME/DE Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has advised candidates intending to register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) to begin creating their profiles immediately.

In its weekly bulletin released Monday, the Board reminded prospective candidates to verify the accuracy of their National Identification Number (NIN) details before initiating profile creation, warning that errors could lead to complications during registration and the examination process.

JAMB stressed that timely action would help candidates avoid last-minute difficulties.

The Board cautioned that correction windows are limited, urging candidates to take personal responsibility for ensuring their details are accurate from the outset.

“Requests for corrections may not always be accommodated,” JAMB noted.

It further reassured parents and candidates that the cost of UTME and DE application documents has remained unchanged for nine years.

For the 2026 exercise, fees are unlikely to increase unless necessary to maintain examination integrity and quality.

JAMB emphasised that the reforms align with the government’s “human-face” directives, designed to ease economic pressures on Nigerian families while strengthening transparency, accountability, and credibility in the national examination system.
