Dangote Petroleum Refinery has introduced a nationwide hotline for Nigerians to report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.
In a statement issued on Monday, the refinery cautioned marketers against creating artificial scarcity, stressing that it currently supplies up to 50 million litres of petrol daily.
According to the statement, the hotline — 0800 123 5264 — is now operational across the country, allowing consumers to report pricing violations and help enforce fair pricing at more than 2,000 MRS filling stations nationwide.
The move follows the refinery’s recent rollout of nationwide PMS sales at ₦739 per litre, described as a strategic intervention to stabilise fuel prices and ease the financial burden on Nigerians during the festive season.
Economic Impact and Consumer Protection
Dangote Refinery reaffirmed its goal of delivering affordable, high-quality fuel while protecting national economic interests.
It urged Nigerians to avoid buying petrol at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at the approved rate, encouraging consumers to report any MRS outlet selling above ₦739 per litre through the hotline.
The company further assured the public of uninterrupted supply, backed by a guaranteed daily production capacity of 50 million litres.
It warned against attempts to manipulate supply or engineer artificial scarcity, calling on regulatory agencies to remain alert and take firm action against such practices.
Dangote noted that large-scale local refining is helping Nigeria reduce reliance on fuel imports, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira, and strengthen national energy security.
The initiative was described as a major milestone in the country’s economic recovery and push for sustainable energy solutions.
The statement concluded by calling on consumers to resist purchasing fuel at inflated prices and support efforts aimed at ensuring fair pricing and market stability.
