President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos State on Saturday to spend the end‑of‑year holidays, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states.
He was received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu, senior government officials, and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu departed Abuja earlier in the day on a three‑state tour. In Borno State, he inaugurated projects executed by Governor Babagana Zulum in collaboration with the federal government.
While in Maiduguri, the President also attended the wedding of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno Governor and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and his bride Hadiza Kam Salem.
From Borno, Tinubu proceeded to Bauchi State, where he paid a condolence visit to the government and family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the late Islamic cleric and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who passed away on November 27.
After his northern engagements, Tinubu arrived in Lagos, where he is expected to participate in several activities during the holiday period.
Among his scheduled appearances is the Eyo Festival on December 27, where he will serve as guest of honour.
The festival, to be held at Tafawa Balewa Square, will celebrate prominent personalities, including the President’s late mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, a respected market leader and matriarch remembered for her contributions to Lagos society.
Tinubu’s holiday engagements in Lagos are expected to blend cultural celebration with political symbolism, reinforcing his connection to the state where he served as a senator and governor, while honouring family legacy and national traditions.
