The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has unveiled a new Pre‑Enrolment Portal designed to reduce long waiting times and improve the experience of Nigerians registering for the National Identification Number (NIN).
Announcing the development on its official 𝕏 handle on Friday, the Commission explained that the platform allows applicants to submit personal details online, upload required documents, and book appointments before visiting enrolment centres for biometric capture.
Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, said the portal enables applicants both in Nigeria and the diaspora to complete a significant portion of the registration process digitally.
He noted that the initiative would ease congestion and shorten queues that have long plagued NIN enrolment centres nationwide.
Features and National Impact
NIMC Director‑General Abisoye Coker‑Odusote described the portal as a major step toward simplifying enrolment.
She explained that applicants can now handle biodata entry, document uploads, and appointment scheduling online, leaving only biometric capture to be done physically.
Key features include:
- Online capture and management of biodata
- Appointment scheduling to minimise delays
- Direct data entry by applicants to improve accuracy
- Secure document uploads with confidentiality safeguards aligned to global data protection standards
The Commission said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises digital transformation, efficient public service delivery, and inclusive national development.
NIMC urged Nigerians to take advantage of the portal, describing it as a faster, more convenient pathway to NIN registration.
It emphasised that the platform reflects its determination to build a reliable and inclusive digital identity ecosystem capable of supporting national planning and sustainable development.
