MTN Announce Network Outage in South East Nigeria

Telecoms giant MTN Nigeria has confirmed a network outage affecting parts of Abia, Enugu, and Ebonyi states, warning subscribers that services may be temporarily unavailable.

In a circular posted Wednesday on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the company issued a notice titled “Network Outage Alert!” acknowledging that it was experiencing challenges in the affected states.

“Our services may be temporarily unavailable as a result,” the statement read.

MTN assured customers that engineers were already working to restore connectivity, while appealing for calm. “We are working to restore services as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” the company added.

Previous Outages and Restoration Efforts

This latest disruption follows similar incidents in recent months. In October, MTN confirmed a network outage across parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), leaving many subscribers unable to make calls, send messages, or access internet services.

At the time, the company issued a similar “Network Outage Alert!” and promised swift restoration, though no timeline was provided.

Earlier, MTN also announced the restoration of services in Kaduna, Taraba, and Plateau states after hours of disruption that left subscribers stranded.

With over 80 million subscribers, MTN is Nigeria’s largest mobile network operator, but recurring outages have raised concerns among users about service reliability.

The company said it continues to emphasise commitment to resolving disruptions quickly and maintaining customer trust.
