Tinubu Constitutes Nigerian Side of US-Nigeria Joint Working Group

President Bola Tinubu has approved the constitution of the Nigerian side of the US‑Nigeria Joint Working Group, a move aimed at deepening collaboration with Washington in tackling security challenges across the country.

The Joint Working Group was established following agreements reached during a recent high‑level Nigerian delegation’s trip to Washington, D.C., led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Ribadu will head the Nigerian team, supported by senior officials from key government establishments.

Members of the Joint Working Group include:

Ms. Idayat Hassan of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and Mr. Paul Alabi of the Embassy of Nigeria in the US will serve as the secretariat.

President Tinubu urged members of the Joint Working Group to work diligently with their US counterparts to ensure smooth operationalization of all agreements across sectors.

He emphasized that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defense and intelligence cooperation with international partners.

The announcement was conveyed in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
