Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the prominent clergyman from Plateau State who raised the alarm about Christian genocide in the north of Nigeria, says he has received a fresh threat to his life, alleging that Boko Haram terrorists have placed a bounty on his head.
The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area disclosed the threat in a video shared on social media Thursday.
Dachomo said the danger stems from his outspoken stance against Christian killings and mass burials in Plateau and other parts of Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.
He explained that his advocacy has drawn the ire of the terrorist group as well as pressure from individuals allegedly loyal to President Bola Tinubu, who have warned him to stop posting videos highlighting atrocities.
His Facebook and Instagram accounts have reportedly been deleted, and Meta has barred him from posting certain content, citing concerns over Nigeria’s internal security.
Threats and Advocacy
In the video, Dachomo said he has credible information that Boko Haram is intent on eliminating him for speaking out against their violent activities.
“Boko Haram, the Islamic terrorists, have placed a bounty on my head, and anyone who kills me first will be rewarded,” he stated.
Despite the threats, the clergyman affirmed that he would continue his advocacy, emphasizing that the fight against Christian persecution and insecurity in Nigeria transcends personal risk.
“Before I began exposing Christian genocide in Plateau and across Nigeria, I knew my life would be at risk, but I do not fear death,” he said.
He added: “In fact, my death would be more dangerous to them than now that I am alive. This is not just about me; it is about every Nigerian who desires peace and safety. We need support to stand against this terrorism.”
