Governor Otu Hails Rebirth of Tinapa as State Reclaims Iconic Asset

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has hailed the formal return of the Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort to state ownership as “a battle fought and won for all Cross Riverians.”

The handover ceremony in Calabar celebrated not only the reclaiming of a major asset but the revival of a vision that once placed the state on the global economic map.

Governor Otu described the return as “not merely an event; it is a rebirth, the triumph of faith, patience and resilience.”

He recalled that under former Governor Donald Duke, Tinapa showcased the state’s capacity for bold, investment-driven development and promised that his administration, under the People First Agenda, would reposition the Free Zone as a hub for trade, tourism, and creative enterprise.

The government is already engaging credible investors to transform Tinapa into a vibrant centre of commerce and job creation, operating with transparency and accountability.

Otu affirmed, “Tinapa is once again ours — and under our watch, it shall flourish. Let the world know that Cross River has reclaimed her pride.”

Commissioner for Finance Dr Mike Odere described the handover as a revival of lost hope and pride, while AMCON Executive Director Shola Lamide noted the resolution as “a win for both AMCON and the people of Cross River.”
