Tinubu Nominates Kingsley Ude as Minister, Sends Letter to Senate

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a letter to the Senate seeking the screening and confirmation of Kingsley Tochukwu Ude (SAN) as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The letter, dated Monday, was read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. It was immediately referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration and screening.

Dr Ude currently serves as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Enugu State.

He was recently elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), recognising his contributions to the legal profession.

Filling the Enugu Ministerial Vacancy

Ude’s nomination follows the resignation of Uche Nnaji, former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.

Nnaji stepped down last month, leaving Enugu State without representation in Tinubu’s cabinet.

Reports had alleged irregularities in Nnaji’s academic and NYSC credentials, including certificates purportedly obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and the NYSC.

President Tinubu’s request comes just days after the Senate confirmed Bernard Doro as a minister.

Doro, the third ministerial nominee from Plateau State, used his screening session to outline plans for building an “inclusive humanitarian ecosystem.”
