Security agencies in Taraba State have joined forces in a show of strength and solidarity, marching through the streets of Jalingo to promote fitness, cooperation, and operational readiness.
The joint route march, held on Friday, October 31, was organised by the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, bringing together personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, FRSC, Nigeria Immigration Service, Taraba Marshal, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
The exercise aimed to strengthen interagency relationships and demonstrate unity among security formations operating within the state.
Residents lined the streets of Jalingo as troops and officers marched in rhythm, waving flags and chanting patriotic songs.
“Not Just Fitness, But Unity”
Addressing participants before the march, Commander of the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, said the exercise symbolised the resilience and unity of Nigeria’s security institutions.

“Today’s route march is not just about fitness,” he said. “It is a demonstration of our strength, unity, and readiness to defend our nation at all times. It reminds us that discipline, teamwork, and endurance remain the hallmarks of our profession. As we step off, let us march with pride, purpose, and mutual respect, showing the people of Taraba and Nigeria that the security forces remain united, alert, and mission-ready.”
The general explained that the route march forms part of ongoing training activities designed to maintain the mental and physical alertness of personnel.
The exercise also reinforced esprit de corps among participating agencies and renewed public confidence in the state’s security architecture.
According to eyewitnesses, residents applauded as soldiers, police officers, road marshals, and paramilitary units passed through major streets, their coordinated steps sending a message of peace and discipline.
The army said similar joint exercises would continue monthly, except when operational exigencies arise.
