The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), a leading socio-political group in northern Nigeria, has pledged continuous support for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The declaration was made during a courtesy visit by the ACF leadership to Vice President Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The visit was also intended to extend an invitation to the Vice President ahead of the forum’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
Chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees, Bashir Dalhatu, praised Vice President Shettima as “the number one ambassador of the north in government,” noting his loyalty to the president and his commitment to the welfare of both the northern region and the nation as a whole.
“He has supported the president a hundred percent. We are very proud of the support he and all our sons and daughters are giving to this government,” Dalhatu said.
Dalhatu reaffirmed the ACF’s commitment to ensuring the Tinubu-led administration succeeds. He stressed that while the forum would offer support, it would also advise on areas requiring improvement for the benefit of all Nigerians, not just the north.
Established in 2000, the ACF was created to unite the north and promote the region’s political interests. Dalhatu highlighted the forum’s role in conflict resolution, economic development, and social interventions across northern Nigeria.
“Before ACF came in, there were many areas of conflict in the north. We have succeeded in reducing a lot of it, and now, I think everybody can see the difference,” he said.
The forum plans to use its silver jubilee anniversary to promote peace, unity, and goodwill across Nigeria’s regions. Dalhatu noted that southern socio-cultural organisations, including Afenifere, PANDEF, and Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, have been invited to participate in the celebrations.
“We hope to spend 25 years in progress and also visit and learn from all walks of life of Nigerians on how best to continue to keep this country together united as one indivisible nation in progress,” he added.
