More than 250,000 Nigerian women have registered for the EmpowerHER Financial Literacy Programme, a federal initiative aimed at equipping women with essential financial, digital, and entrepreneurial skills.
The project, launched by the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, represents one of the boldest moves yet in Nigeria’s ongoing effort to strengthen women’s economic inclusion and leadership in national development.
Implemented in collaboration with Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, EmpowerHER promises to transform financial awareness into tangible empowerment for women across the country.
At the Abuja launch, Hon. Sulaiman-Ibrahim described the programme as a foundation for long-term social and economic transformation.
“With EmpowerHER, we are laying the foundation for a financially literate and economically empowered generation of Nigerian women — one that will strengthen families, communities, and our nation,” she said.
She noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions 774, ensuring that financial and digital literacy form the backbone of every empowerment effort under the Ministry.
EmpowerHER as a National Movement
Kathleen Erhimu, Founder of Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, described the programme as more than a policy project.
“EmpowerHER is a movement to ensure every Nigerian woman, whether in business, public service, or rural enterprise, can build wealth, grow businesses, and shape her own future,” she said.
Through the Happy Woman Platform, participants will access training in financial and digital literacy, entrepreneurship development, and access to finance, alongside mentorship and networking opportunities.
Anchored on the Renewed Hope Agenda, the initiative aims to reach 10 million Nigerian women by 2030 — combining digital tools with community-based learning to ensure inclusion, especially for rural women.
Hon. Sulaiman-Ibrahim reaffirmed that every Nigerian woman, from the classroom to the marketplace, “deserves the knowledge and tools to thrive — building a generation that is informed, equipped, and unstoppable.”
