The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered a suspected baby factory and human trafficking syndicate operating in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
The operation led to the rescue of five pregnant women and a baby boy, while the prime suspect, identified as Ada Clement, was arrested alongside her accomplices.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, the suspects confessed to running an illegal operation where babies were allegedly sold for between ₦400,000 and ₦600,000, depending on gender.
Olayinka revealed that the operation was discovered on October 21, 2025, after a 17-year-old girl, Vivian Peter from Akwa Ibom State, escaped from the facility and reported to the police.
She said she was trafficked under the pretense of a job offer, only to find herself confined in the illicit compound.
Following her report, operatives from the Ore Division and the Command’s Gender Unit raided the premises, rescuing the victims.
One young woman who had already given birth is receiving post-natal care at the General Hospital, Ore, while the others remain in protective custody.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to track down every member of the syndicate.
“The Command remains committed to dismantling human trafficking networks, baby factories, and other crimes that exploit vulnerable individuals,” he stated.
The police say more arrests may follow as they trace the buyers linked to the illegal trade.
