“The raid followed intelligence about the drug party. NDLEA operatives who were embedded in the party between 11 pm on Saturday, 25th October, disrupted the gathering at 3 am on Sunday,” he explained.

Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Tramadol Seizures

In Lagos, NDLEA intercepted 70 parcels of cocaine, totaling 3.6 kilograms, concealed in cocoa butter body cream containers destined for London, UK.

Three suspects, including cargo agent Lawal Mustapha Olakunle and travel agency CEO Mutiu Adebiyi, were arrested following a two-week investigation. A female healthcare worker, Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, was also taken into custody.

Elsewhere, a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, was arrested at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, after attempting to smuggle 103.59 grams of methamphetamine to the Philippines.

Tramadol seizures were significant, including 21,950 capsules hidden in a 100-litre water heater from Umar Abubakar in Kwara state, and 450,000 pills recovered from Auwal Musa and Salihu Bala at Dan-anacha checkpoint in Taraba state.

Other tramadol and rohypnol finds occurred along the Abuja/Kaduna highway.

Cannabis, Skunk and Psychoactive Substances

NDLEA operations yielded 162.2kg of skunk in Kogi state, 128kg in Nasarawa, and 150kg in Ondo. In Lagos, 121.3 litres of skuchies, a new psychoactive substance, were seized at Itoga Badagry, while 55kg of skunk was confiscated at Badagry’s Seme border.

A major distributor, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, was arrested with 500 grams of Loud cannabis in Lekki.

Other arrests involved suspects ranging from a 75-year-old man in Abia with 4.7kg skunk, to a 60-year-old woman with 225 grams.

NDLEA also intercepted firearms and ammunition in Zamfara state, including an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 assorted rounds.

The agency continues its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization across schools, workplaces, worship centres, and communities.

Activities last week included lectures at Asabari Grammar School, Oyo; Government Day Girls Secondary School, Kebbi; St. Mark’s College, Enugu; and Hajara Ahmad International School, Kano, among others.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. MB Marwa (Rtd) CON, OFR

Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended NDLEA officers for the seizures and arrests, urging continued diligence in balancing enforcement with community education.
