MainPower Schedules 10-Day Power Outage Across Enugu for TCN Repairs

Residents of Enugu metropolis will experience a 10-day power outage beginning Wednesday, October 22, and lasting until Thursday, October 31, 2025, according to the MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL).

In a statement issued in Enugu on Monday, the Head of Corporate Communications at MainPower, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, said the outage would run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the maintenance period.

The exercise, he noted, forms part of ongoing rehabilitation and reinforcement work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) at its New Haven transmission station.

“The planned outage will be implemented in segments, affecting specific lines on different days to allow for systematic repairs and upgrades,” the statement read.

Ezeh added that the project is aimed at improving the reliability, safety, and quality of electricity supply in Enugu.

He advised residents and businesses to make alternative arrangements during the period.

The maintenance schedule will affect major feeders and transmission lines across Enugu metropolis.

The outage will begin with Kingsway Line 1 on October 22, followed by Emene Industrial Line 1 on October 23, Thinkers Corner Line on October 24, and Trans Ekulu Line on October 25.

Other affected lines include Kingsway Line 2 and 9th Mile Line on October 26, Emene Industrial Line 2 on October 28, Ugwuogo Line on October 29, and Ituku Ozalla Line on October 31.

The 33KV feeders supplying electricity to Emene Industrial Layout, Abakpa Nike, Trans Ekulu, Nowas, Ugbodogwu, Thinkers Corner, Ugbo Nnebedum, Nkpologwu, 9th Mile, Shoprite, Golf Estate, Zoo Estate, and Okpara Avenue will experience interruptions.
