The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has shifted the date of its 2025 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) to November 12โ13, 2025.
The conference, which will still hold in Abuja, will be declared open by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Special Guest of Honour.
The decision to move the event was announced on Friday in a joint statement by NGE President Eze Anaba and General Secretary Onuoha Ukeh.
The Guild said the change was due to โcircumstances beyond its control,โ and apologised to members, invited guests, and the general public for any inconvenience.
According to the statement, the annual conference remains a premier platform for editors across print, broadcast, online, and news agency sectors to debate national issues and chart pathways toward unity and development.
A Gathering of the Nationโs Media Minds
Themed โDemocratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors,โ ANEC 2025 will focus on the responsibility of the media in strengthening Nigeriaโs democracy and national unity.
Its sub-theme, โElectoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027,โ is designed to spark discussions ahead of the next general elections.
The conference will feature a keynote address and several technical papers, including โElection Disputes and Judicial Integrity: Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politicsโ by Prof. Awa Kalu (SAN), and โState of the Nation: Imperative of Economic and Political Reforms in a Challenged Nationโ by Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim of the University of Abuja.
Others include โThe Evolving Face of Journalism: Battling Misinformation, AI Disruption, and Credibility Gapโ by Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi of Baze University, and โMedia, Terrorism, and National Security: Addressing the Complexitiesโ by retired Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor.
The second day will feature an Executive Session where editors will engage with government officials, political actors, and business leaders.
Over 500 editors are expected to attend the Abuja event, which the Guild describes as โa credible platform to dissect issues that would sustain national cohesion and development.โ
