United States President Donald Trump has proclaimed that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas marks “the end of the age of terror and death”—a historic turning point he called “the dawn of a new Middle East.”

Addressing the Israeli Knesset on Monday, Trump hailed the deal as a divine moment that closes one of the bloodiest chapters in modern history.

“This is not only the end of a war,” he said, “it is the beginning of the age of faith, of hope, and of God.”

The ceasefire, brokered through weeks of diplomatic shuttle between regional powers and Washington, secured the release of 20 Israeli captives in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.

Trump described the accord as a global triumph of unity, crediting Arab and Muslim nations for pressuring Hamas to accept peace. “It’s an incredible triumph for Israel and the world,” he said, “to see all these nations working together as partners in peace.”

He praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “a man of exceptional courage and patriotism,” adding that Israel had now “won all that it can by force of arms.”

The president also confirmed that US-led airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities had “removed a dark cloud from the region,” declaring that “the number one state sponsor of terror has been stopped from obtaining the world’s most dangerous weapons.”

‘Israel’s Greatest Friend’ – Netanyahu

Netanyahu, in turn, called Trump “the greatest friend the State of Israel has ever had in the White House.”

Standing before President Isaac Herzog and visiting dignitaries in Jerusalem, he thanked Trump for recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, supporting Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to Israeli soldiers and hostages lost in the October 7 Hamas attack, describing their courage as “the fire that forged Israel’s victory.”

As families of captives reunited across Israel, Netanyahu declared that the nation had entered “a golden age of peace and resilience.”

For Trump, it was the moment he had promised: “Generations from now, they will remember this day as when everything began to change—very much for the better.”
