The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced a final 48-hour reopening of its student verification portal, giving tertiary institutions yet to complete their verification process one last opportunity to comply.
According to a statement released Saturday, the portal will reopen at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, and close at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
NELFUND said this short extension is aimed at ensuring that all eligible students are verified by their institutions as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 academic year loan application process.
The Fund warned that institutions failing to complete the process within the new timeframe would be excluded from the current loan cycle, thereby affecting their students’ access to the Nigerian Education Loan Scheme.
Institutions Face Exclusion from Loan Scheme
In its statement, NELFUND emphasised that accountability and timeliness remain key pillars of the loan programme. It also announced that the names of institutions that fail to meet the deadline will be publicly listed after the portal closes.
“Institutions that do not complete their verification within this window will forfeit participation in the ongoing loan cycle,” the agency noted.
The Fund wants to maintain transparency and ensure that no qualified student is left behind due to administrative delays.
For inquiries or updates, NELFUND advised institutions and students to reach out via email at info@nelf.gov.ng or follow updates on X (Twitter) via @nelfund.
