Don’t Disrupt Parliament, Forum Warns Aggrieved National Assembly Workers

The Progressive Staff Forum of the National Assembly has called on a faction of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) to seek lawful means in pursuing their grievances.

Coordinator of the forum, Comrade Isah Mohammed, in a Monday statement in Abuja, said disputes must not disrupt parliamentary activities. “Disputes should not be allowed to affect legislative duties,” he warned.

He advised the aggrieved workers to explore official channels. “They can petition the EFCC or the Nigeria Police Force over any allegations of financial impropriety,” he said.

Mohammed cautioned that picketing or blocking access to the National Assembly would endanger the smooth running of the legislature. He noted that the Clerk of the National Assembly, Barr. Kamoru Ogunlana, has already set up a committee to look into the matter.

The forum urged security agencies to remain vigilant. “We call on the security agencies DSS, police to be on alert. Arrest and hold responsible the so-called concerned staff if there is a breakdown of law and order within the National Assembly,” the statement read.

The group appealed to all staff to embrace cooperation, dialogue, and lawful processes. It said internal disagreements should not escalate into actions capable of undermining the National Assembly’s operations.
