The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has restated its commitment to working with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Vice President Kashim Shettima described this support as a welcome step for Nigeria’s future. He gave the assurance on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja while receiving a UNICEF team led by Ms Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of courage and conviction, and he is doing everything possible to redefine the concept of modern leadership in Nigeria,” Shettima said.
He explained that the administration is strengthening partnerships in health, nutrition, education and human capital development.
Nutrition, Education and Economic Growth
Shettima listed key projects, including the Nutrition 774 Initiative, the Nutrition Intervention Fund and new policies for economic inclusion. He stressed that expanding access to education and investing in young people remain top priorities.

“We are on the cusp of regenerating our economy and rebuilding this nation. The gains of our reforms are manifesting by the day; the inflationary trend is on the decline and by the end of the year, the economy will further stabilise for all to see,” he declared.
The Vice President commended UNICEF for its long-standing partnership with Nigeria and expressed optimism that renewed collaboration would yield greater results.
UNICEF Aligns With Renewed Hope
In her response, Abdelatef hailed Shettima’s leadership, describing him as “a global citizen.” She assured that UNICEF would keep aligning its work with Nigeria’s development plans.
She welcomed recent policies, including the Nutrition 774 Initiative, the Nutrition Intervention Fund and the Nutrition Bill. “The administration’s vision is clear and the mission is realisable,” Abdelatef said.
UNICEF has been a consistent partner in Nigeria’s education, health and child welfare programmes. Its support is expected to further strengthen efforts to reduce malnutrition, expand girl-child education and improve social safety nets.
