Osimhen Set for Champions League Return After Injury Scare

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is set to return to action in next week’s Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Nigerian forward had raised fears of a long-term absence after suffering an ankle injury during a World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali. He was forced off in the 35th minute, clutching his ankle in visible pain.

The Turkish champions quickly dispatched a private jet to bring their record signing back to Istanbul for medical checks.

Club doctor Yener İnce confirmed the results of the scans. “Tests conducted at our sponsor hospital revealed a moderate sprain with bleeding in the ankle ligaments of our player Victor Osimhen. Treatment has begun to ensure his return to the pitch as soon as possible,” he said.

This eased fears among Galatasaray fans, who worried about losing their talisman for weeks.

Focus Shifts to Frankfurt

Reports in Turkey say Osimhen will not feature in the weekend league trip to Eyüpspor. “Osimhen is expected to be rested and not risked in the league match away to Eyüpspor, with plans for him to start in the line-up for the Champions League clash in Frankfurt next Thursday evening,” Fanatik quoted Kemerburgaz.

The forward has reportedly assured manager Okan Buruk of his readiness to give everything for the club’s European campaign.

Osimhen scored 37 goals in 41 matches last season. He joined Galatasaray in a record €75m transfer from Napoli and is central to their ambition in Europe.

His comeback is particularly vital as Mauro Icardi is still regaining full fitness. In his absence, Barış Yılmaz is expected to lead the attack in the domestic league.

Galatasaray insist no unnecessary risks will be taken with Osimhen. But the sight of him back on the pitch in Frankfurt could define their season.
