Police Launch Probe into Woman’s Gruesome Murder in Illorin

A dark cloud settled over the Temidire community in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Residents woke to the chilling news of a murder that had left many shaken.

Mrs. Esther Enemo was found dead in the bush behind her house. Her body was dismembered. Some parts were stuffed in a sack and dumped under a nearby bridge.

She was reportedly pregnant at the time of the murder.

Report said that the 39-year-old woman was home alone due to the nature of her husband’s business.

He is said to be into agricultural chemicals and based in a border town in the northern part of the state.

It adds that Mrs Enemo was last seen alive buying some bottles of beer and plates of pepper soup and heading to her residence with them.

Sources said that the act suggested she had a guest.

A neighbour had alerted the police after noticing strange activity around the victim’s home. Officers arrived swiftly and began combing the area.

Suspect Arrested as Investigation Deepens

Police arrested 29-year-old Mr. Sylvester Enemo, the younger brother of the victim’s husband. He was seen leaving the house shortly before the discovery.

The victim’s husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo, has also been contacted by detectives for questioning. Investigators say they are exploring all angles.

“We are treating this case with utmost seriousness. No stone will be left unturned,” said CP Ojo Adekimi, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police.

He described the incident as “deeply unfortunate” and urged residents to remain calm. The police warned against spreading rumours that could stir panic.

Security patrols have been reinforced across Kwara State. The Command says it is working round the clock to protect lives and property.

“We appeal to the public to cooperate with us. Timely and useful information is key to solving this case,” the police added.

The remains of Mrs. Enemo have been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
