President Bola Tinubu celebrated the winners of the by-elections in 16 areas spread across 12 states that took place on Saturday. A statement was released by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, in Abuja on Sunday.
The President appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organizing smooth and mostly peaceful elections.
INEC’s results showed that the president’s party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victories in 12 constituencies, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in two, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in one, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in one as well.
Celebrating Leadership and Unity
Tinubu was pleased to see the first major win for the APC under Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, their new national chairman. He thanked the APC governors and other leaders for their role in the success of the elections.
The President praised Chairman Yilwatda, stating that “he has shown leadership capacity and demonstrated what is achievable when popular candidates are fielded and with unity of purpose among party leaders.”
He also expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the APC, saying, “Thank you for the confidence reposed in our party. Be assured that our Renewed Hope slogan is not a mere slogan. Our destination is a better, more secure and prosperous Nigeria. We shall take you there, by the Grace of God.”
Tinubu applauded all the political parties and candidates who took part in the election. He urged them to uphold a spirit of sportsmanship and fairness, which he believes are essential for a lasting democracy.
