Traffic Diversion Announced for Osborne Road, Lagos, for Drainage Work

The Lagos State Government has a plan to redirect traffic around Osborne Road in Ikoyi, within the Eti-Osa Local Government area. This will happen from Friday, August 15, to Sunday, August 17.

Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Transportation Commissioner, announced this on Tuesday in Lagos. The aim is to reduce disruptions while connecting drains from Modupe Alakija Crescent to those along Osborne Road’s median.

“To improve the drainage system on Modupe Alakija Crescent, we need to link the new drains to the underground channel beneath Osborne Road,” he said.

This will involve cutting a piece of Osborne Road near Foreshore Towers. The construction starts at 10 p.m. on Friday, August 15, and will finish by midnight on Sunday, August 17. A traffic management plan is in place to limit any inconvenience during these two days.

Traffic Changes and Diversions

There will be a counterflow along Osborne/Alfred Rewane Road for about 100 meters, stretching from Modupe Alakija Crescent to the Alfred Rewane Road junction.

“Drivers going to Osborne Road from Alfred Rewane Road will switch to a contraflow lane before joining their regular route again,” he shared.

Drivers from Osborne Road heading to Alfred Rewane Road will stick to one lane to allow this counterflow setup.

For those seeking alternate routes, motorists en route to Alfred Rewane from Osborne Road should take Oba Adeyemi Oyekan Avenue to connect to Glover Road, Lugard Avenue, or Cameron Road.

Similarly, drivers heading to Osborne Road from Alfred Rewane Road should take Glover Road, Lugard Avenue, or Cameron Road to join Oba Adeyemi Oyekan Avenue.

Osiyemi mentioned that the road will be clear for traffic again on Monday, August 18. The Ministry of Transportation, with the help of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), will oversee vehicle flow in the area to minimize any disruptions.
