Court Prohibits Ogun Government from Demolishing Gbenga Daniel’s Residence and Hotel

A High Court in Sagamu, Ogun State, has temporarily stopped the government and its agents from messing with ex-governor Gbenga Daniel’s property.

Gbenga Daniel and his wife, Olufunke Daniel, filed an urgent request, claiming their properties were at risk.

Through their lawyer, A.M Kotoye SAN, they want to prevent Governor Dapo Abiodun and relevant authorities from touching the Asoludero Court and properties belonging to Daniel’s wife, Conference Hotel, and Blue Chapel Limited in various lawsuits.

Property Details and Court Action

The suit numbers HCS/371/2025, HCS/373/2025, and HCS/372/2025, indicate the couple’s legal fight to protect the Asoludero Court and other properties located at Block 1, Plots 7 & 8 of Block XXXVIII Plot 1 & 12 within the Government Reservation Area, Sagamu.

They insisted the property has a valid Certificate of Occupancy, numbered LUD3/LR2693, dated January 20, 2010.

Their lawyer, Adeyinka Kotoye SAN, filed a motion on August 11, seeking urgent court protection.

Justice O.S Oloyede agreed on the urgency and decided to act quickly, reading through all necessary documents to issue the interim order.

The hearing for a more permanent decision is set for August 19, 2025.

Dispute Over Demolition Notice

It’s reported that the government sent demolition notices to Daniel’s residence and hotels in Sagamu, marking buildings at Obafemi Awolowo Avenue GRA, Sagamu for demolition.

Daniel characterised the government actions as “political persecution,” while Governor Abiodun insist it’s routine through a land audit check.

Gov. Abiodun’s media aide, Kayode Akinmade, said Daniel should follow laws, stating that no one is above the state.
