Applications for the prestigious Chevening Scholarship are now open, offering Nigerians and other global talents a fully funded master’s degree opportunity in the United Kingdom.
The British High Commission announced that the application window runs from August 5 to October 7, 2025, giving interested candidates about two months to prepare and submit.
Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Chevening is targeted at future leaders—people with ideas, ambition, and the passion to drive positive change in their communities.
Since its launch in 1983, the programme has empowered over 60,000 professionals globally. Among them are hundreds of Nigerians excelling in governance, media, law, health, civil society, and beyond.
No Course Limits, No Application Fees, Just You and Your Vision
One key advantage of Chevening is flexibility. Applicants can choose any course, at any UK university, without restrictions.
Whether it’s public health, artificial intelligence, creative arts, or climate policy, Chevening is open to all fields—as long as you show potential and a plan to use the knowledge to solve real-world problems.
“Chevening’s highly competitive selection process ensures that those chosen represent the brightest and most driven individuals,” said Emma Hennessey, Head of the Scholarships Unit at the FCDO.
She added: “Alumni use their education, networks, and the confidence they gain in the UK to create lasting change in their communities and across the world.”
