Two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State — Abah John Friday, 25, and Okah Andrel Eloho, 19 — have been confirmed killed after being kidnapped in June.
The Ondo State Police Command said Friday’s landlord, Oladele Femi, conspired with two others to abduct, rape, and murder the students.
Police Commissioner Abiodun Lawal, briefing journalists in Akure, said the case was cracked following a petition filed by Emmanuel Peter, the brother of one of the victims.
The students were abducted on June 20.
Three weeks later, Okah’s lifeless body was discovered at a remote bush along the Ondo-Ekiti border.
Friday is also feared dead. His body is yet to be recovered but is believed to have been dumped in a river.
Lawal said the victims were targeted for robbery. He added that ₦800,000 was withdrawn from Friday’s bank account while he was held.
Okah was allegedly raped before her execution.
“They killed her because she recognised one of them and threatened to expose him,” Lawal said.
How Police Traced the Killers
Lawal said the police swung into action after receiving the complaint from Peter’s lawyer on June 24.
Forensic tracking led investigators to Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, where an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to Okah was recovered.
It was in the possession of Abdul Mohammed Mubarak, 38, who confessed to buying it from Ojo Michael.
Michael was tracked and arrested in Aramoko-Ekiti.
He confessed to being part of the gang and named Femi, the landlord, as the ringleader. He also implicated a third suspect, Kola, who is still on the run.
Michael admitted that he and Kola raped and killed Okah. Her body was recovered near Ode-Ekiti and taken to the mortuary for autopsy.
Friday’s Lexus RX 350 was also recovered.
“It was Femi who planned everything. He brought Michael and Kola to carry it out,” Lawal disclosed.
Femi, now in custody, confessed to planning and covering up the crime.
“They Were Full of Promise,” Police Say
Lawal said the command will not rest until Friday’s body is found and Kola is captured.
“This was a cold, calculated killing,” he said. “They were young and full of promise. Their lives were taken for selfish gain.”
He added that the suspects will face justice.
“We will leave no stone unturned until every accomplice is behind bars,” he vowed.
