FRSC Recovers Stolen Vehicle in Anambra After Three Years

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered a vehicle stolen three years ago in Anambra State.

The car was found at the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) Desk Office in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area.

According to the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mrs Joyce Alexander, the recovery followed a verification request sent by an agent of the Board of Internal Revenue (BIR).

“Upon verification, the owner was contacted and confirmed that she had not seen the vehicle in three years,” she said.

She added that the vehicle owner provided “original documents to prove ownership,” after which the police were invited to take over the matter.

System Worked as Designed

Alexander said the feat shows that the NVIS system works and should be used fully by car owners.

“The command is working to ensure that the vehicle is returned to its rightful owner,” she said.

“We urge all vehicle owners to ensure that their number plates are uploaded into the NVIS portal for ease of tracking and identification.”

She said that this will make it easier for the authorities to quickly trace and recover stolen vehicles.

Technology and Teamwork Pay Off

The recovery was made possible through joint efforts between FRSC and other security agencies in the state.

Alexander stressed that the agency is focused on improving road safety and crime detection using technology and teamwork.

“The command remains committed to enhancing road safety and security in Anambra through the use of technology and collaboration with other security agencies,” she said.

Do you believe more vehicle owners are aware of the NVIS system? Would you register your car if it could be tracked and recovered this easily?
