JAMB Flags UTME Highest Scorer for Possible Dual Admission

Okeke Chinedu from Anambra State scored the highest mark in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination with 375 points.

The score is only 25 points shy of the maximum 400 points possible. It is the highest score ever achieved in the 47 years history of the Joint Admission and Examination Board (JAMB).

He applied to study mechanical engineering at the University of Lagos. But questions have now emerged about his true student status.

At the policy meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed that Okeke’s records show he was already admitted into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

“Data from JAMB revealed that Okeke was admitted to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka’s department of medicine four years ago,” Oloyede said.

He noted that UNN confirmed Okeke was still enrolled and “doing fine.”

However, JAMB found no record of his withdrawal or transfer from the medical programme.

“We have written the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to ensure that Okeke is not allowed to practice medicine under the circumstances,” Oloyede said.

The board has not disclosed if the latest result will be annulled or if Okeke faces additional sanctions.

Other Top Performers Named

Following closely behind Okeke were Ayuba Simon-Peter with 374, and Jimoh Abdulmalik with 373.

Others who also scored 373 include Roberts Damiete, Ononugbo Chigozirim, Olawepo Gertrude, Afinotan Leslie, Azoyenime Samuel, and Oyebode Oluwapelumi.

These results mark the best performances in this year’s examination.
