Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 10 Boko Haram fighters in a fierce clash near the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

The assault took place between Rann and Gamboru Ngala, along the Southern Lake Chad axis, deep inside Borno State.

The operation struck the heart of a terrorist hideout in Manawaji, a border settlement between Nigeria and Cameroon.

According to Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, “The troops made contact with terrorists at a Cameroon border community, Manawaji, between Rann and Gamboru Ngala, and immediately engaged the terrorists.”

He confirmed that 10 terrorists were killed in the confrontation.

Anti-Aircraft Weapons Recovered from Terrorists

Weapons seized included powerful anti-aircraft ammunition and other deadly ordinance stolen from a previous attack on the Cameroon Defense Force.

“We suspect the anti-aircraft ammunition was stolen in an earlier attack on Cameroon Defense Force positioned in Cameroon,” Abubakar said.

Troops also recovered other ammunition believed to be used in cross-border terror campaigns.

The Southern Lake Chad region has remained a flashpoint in the battle against insurgency.

Abubakar disclosed that the military’s clearance operations are in full swing.

“Our troops are intensifying sustained operations to clear the Southern lakes in the border communities,” he said.

The Theater Commander commended the troops’ bravery and determination.

Rann and Ngala: Strategic Flashpoints on the Border

Rann, the administrative center of Kalabalge Local Government Area, sits 183 kilometers from Maiduguri.

Ngala, closer by, is 154 kilometers away. Both lie on the fringe of Lake Chad and remain vulnerable to insurgent incursions.

Abubakar said morale is high among the troops, thanks to new deployments and equipment.

The military leadership has vowed not to relent until Boko Haram is entirely wiped out from the region.

“The theater will not relax until the last terrorist is neutralised in the region,” the general declared with confidence.
