Veteran actor Fatai Adekunle Adetayo, known as Lalude, has called out NURTW president MC Oluomo for failing to fulfil a ₦1.5 million campaign promise made to him and other Nollywood stars during the 2023 general elections.
In a candid chat on the Beyond the Fame podcast, Lalude, famed for his herbalist roles in Yoruba films, said MC Oluomo brought them in to campaign for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“MC promised me and Alapini. He asked us to demand for whatever we wanted. We did but we got nothing up till date.”
‘We Were Camped and Abandoned’
Lalude revealed that for seven weeks, he and fellow actor Alapini campaigned on foot while MC Oluomo followed in his car.
According to him, they were only given ₦10,000 daily for feeding, which was later cut off.
“We trekked long distances every day while MC Oluomo followed us in his car. In the end, we were abandoned.”
“We were paid ₦10k daily to trek and campaign for Tinubu. Mc Oluomo and Seyi Tinubu promised us ₦1.5M and a car. Till today, nothing. The money Sanwo-Olu released was embezzled.”
He added bitterly, “Whoever is behind these misdeeds will not prosper… We know they will still come to us by 2027, and we are waiting for them.”
Lalude’s outcry comes shortly after actors Ganiu Nafiu, also known as Alapini, and Bukky Adekogbe Raji (Aminatu Papapa) publicly expressed regret for supporting Tinubu in the last elections.
