JAMB Sets June 28 for 2025 UTME Mop-Up Exam for 96,838 Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exam will take place on Saturday, June 28.

This exercise is designed to give another opportunity to candidates who could not take part in earlier phases of the examination.

According to JAMB, the mop-up exam will accommodate 5,096 candidates affected by spill-over issues and those who were unable to undergo biometric verification during the main UTME exercise.

These individuals had previously been unable to sit for their exams due to technical or administrative challenges.

Absentee Candidates to Get One-Time Opportunity

In a further show of leniency, JAMB said an additional 91,742 candidates who missed either or both the main and resit UTME exams will also be eligible for this mop-up session.

The examination body said that this is a special one-time dispensation, strictly for the 2025 UTME candidates.

“Saturday, June 28, has been approved for the conduct of the 2025 UTME mop-up examination,” JAMB wrote in a statement. “This examination will accommodate the 5,096 spill-over candidates and those who failed biometric verification during the main exercise.”

It added that the inclusion of absentee candidates brings the total number of participants for the mop-up exercise to 96,838. These candidates will be distributed across 183 approved centres nationwide. JAMB said others will remain on standby in case further adjustments are needed.

JAMB assured candidates that all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth and fair process. It advised that all scheduled candidates should begin printing their examination notification slips starting Monday, June 23, 2025.

These slips will contain important details such as the venue, date, and time of the mop-up exam.

Candidates are expected to appear at their respective centres with valid identification and their notification slips, as entry will not be granted without them.
