US Mission to Support Foreign Investments in Lagos Free Zone

The Lagos Free Zone (LFZ), Nigeria’s first private Special Economic Zone, has gained fresh support from the United States Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria. The US pledged to help attract more foreign direct investments to the fast-growing economic hub.

The American delegation, led by US Ambassador to Nigeria Richard Mills Jr., visited the zone on Monday and described it as a major investment destination in Africa

The Lagos Free Zone sits in Lagos State, Nigeria’s economic powerhouse. The zone is promoted by Singapore-based Tolaram and spans 860 hectares. It has top-grade infrastructure and a one-stop clearance system to ease business operations.

During the visit, Ambassador Mills said the US was ready to encourage American companies to explore business opportunities in the LFZ. He pointed to the upcoming 2025 U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Angola as a valuable chance to link Nigerian businesses with US investors and partners.

“I am impressed with the master plan for the Zone, the infrastructure and the level of investment here at the Lagos Free Zone,” Mills said. He added, “It is gratifying to see major American companies and brands such as Kellogg’s and Colgate already having operations in the Zone.”

LFZ Management Seeks More US Business Partnerships

The Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone, Adesuwa Ladoja, said the zone offers some of the best conditions for serious investors. She explained that the infrastructure, business-friendly policies, and incentive packages make the LFZ an ideal place to set up large-scale operations.

Ladoja said the presence of international brands shows that the zone can support global business ambitions. She urged the US Diplomatic Mission to help convince more American investors to consider the zone.

“The Zone is the most preferred investment destination with world-class infrastructure and incentives that any serious business needs to thrive and make huge returns on investments,” she said.

She explained that the creation of the zone had brought real benefits to Nigeria’s economy. These include more industrial activity and the creation of thousands of new jobs for Nigerians.

Ladoja also praised the Federal Government’s work on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. She described the highway project as a major boost to the zone, as it will improve the transport of goods and materials in and out of the LFZ.
