At the national event in Lagos on Democracy Day, June 12, 2025, Governor Chukwuma Soludo expressed strong faith in Nigeria’s future. He called on citizens to remain hopeful and work together for national growth.

Speaking at “The Platform,” he described himself as a “die-hard optimist” and said he firmly believes that Nigeria’s best days lie ahead.

He admitted that Nigeria is facing tough challenges, but said the country has also made clear progress.

According to him, it is important to see the glass as “half full” instead of constantly focusing on setbacks. “I am a firm believer in Nigeria,” he said. “We must look beyond the problems and focus on the successes we’ve made.”

Soludo Praises Tinubu’s Reforms and Urges Continuity

Governor Soludo strongly supported the structural reforms being carried out by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He said the changes are bold and necessary for rebuilding the economy and encouraged the president to continue with his current path, describing the reforms as a return to economic sustainability.

He noted that progress would take time but insisted that staying on course is vital. “President Tinubu and his team must not lose sight,” he said. “They are on the right path. They must stay the course.”

Soludo explained that past discussions about improving Nigeria had already suggested useful solutions.

These include restructuring the country, ensuring food security, reducing poverty and unemployment, and using the country’s natural resources wisely. He added that these ideas are still relevant and must now be followed with serious action.

A Call for Ethical Politics and Progress-Oriented Unity

The Anambra State governor also addressed the role of politics in national progress. He said that political parties must go beyond personal interests and instead focus on real ideologies.

“Politics must have a soul,” he declared. “It must stand for something meaningful, not just personal ambition.”

He called on progressives across the country to unite and work together. The governor said Nigerians must see evidence of their cooperation to believe real change is possible. He argued that this unity and moral values will inspire Nigerians to rebuild the country.

He shared how this vision is already being pursued in Anambra State, which he proudly described as the “safest state in Nigeria.” According to him, the state has implemented long-term safety strategies that address the root causes of insecurity.

Rejecting Freebies and Building a Culture of Responsibility

While Governor Soludo’s message was full of hope, he also gave a warning. He said the culture of giveaways and quick money is encouraging criminal activity. He linked corruption and lawlessness to a mindset where people expect rewards without working for them.

Soludo stressed that Nigeria must build a new culture of discipline. “We need a citizen’s code of conduct,” he said, “so that everyone understands their role in rebuilding the country.”

He expressed worry that many young people are being led astray by lies about easy wealth. He said national progress will only be possible if all citizens take responsibility and commit to doing the right thing.
