The Federal Government will build 100 houses in each of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. This plan is part of the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda. The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Atta, announced the project in Kano on Tuesday evening.
Atta made the announcement during a visit to Kano, where the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, received new members defecting from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“This is a very nice program, where the President is going to build 100 houses in each of the local governments of the Great Nation. That is 77,400 houses,” Atta said.
He explained that Kano State will get 4,400 houses because it has 44 local governments. “So if you multiply 100 by 44 local governments, we are going to get 4,400 houses. This is greater than any of our states,” he added.
Project Targets Housing Shortage and Promotes Development
The Renewed Hope Housing Agenda includes plans to provide affordable housing for Nigerians and reduce homelessness. According to government sources, the new homes will include basic amenities like clean water, power supply, roads, and schools.
These houses will be built using local materials and contractors. This is expected to create thousands of jobs and boost the economy in rural and urban areas.
Minister Atta called on the people of Kano and the new APC members to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He said the housing project is just one part of the government’s efforts to improve lives.
He added that the administration is also working on better roads, power supply, and access to loans for small businesses.
Barau Welcomes Defectors, Promotes APC’s Development Agenda
Earlier, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, welcomed the defectors. He praised them for choosing to join the APC.
“I congratulate and welcome you into our great party, the APC. I congratulate you on taking such a wise decision to join the APC, Africa’s largest political party,” he said.
Barau described APC as a party that delivers progress and development. He urged all new members to work with others to support ongoing projects and government programs in their communities.
The defection took place during a large political gathering attended by APC members, traditional leaders, and youth groups. Many expressed hope that the housing project would help reduce poverty and increase stability across Nigeria.
