A violent attack in Boulder, Colorado, left eight people injured after a man threw incendiary devices into a crowd during a pro-Israel demonstration.
The incident occurred at Pearl Street Mall, a popular pedestrian shopping district near the University of Colorado, during an event organized by Run for Their Lives, a group advocating for Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
The suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, reportedly shouted “Free Palestine” before launching the attack. Witnesses described him as shirtless, holding glass bottles filled with liquid, and aggressively advancing toward the crowd.
The FBI is investigating the incident as a targeted act of terrorism.
“As a result of these preliminary facts, it is clear that this is a targeted act of violence,” said FBI Special Agent Mark Michalek.
Soliman was hospitalized after the attack. Authorities believe he acted alone.
“We’re fairly confident we have the lone suspect in custody,” said Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn.
Victims and Witness Accounts
The attack injured four women and four men, aged 52 to 88, with some suffering severe burns.
Witness Brooke Coffman, a University of Colorado student, described the scene.
“I saw four women lying or sitting on the ground with burns on their legs. One had been badly burned and was wrapped in a flag,” she said.
She recalled seeing the suspect standing shirtless, holding a glass bottle of clear liquid, and shouting.
“Everybody is yelling, ‘get water, get water,'” Coffman added.
The attack occurred during an event organized by Run for Their Lives, a group advocating for Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack.
“The victims were attacked simply because they were Jews,” he said.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis called the incident “unfathomable” and expressed concern over rising violence.
