Air Peace has completed the first phase of its 2025 Hajj operations. The airline transported 5,040 pilgrims from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia. The exercise ran from May 9 to May 24, 2025.
A total of 16 flights were dedicated to this phase of the Hajj journey. The first flight took off from Owerri Airport, Imo State. Vice President Kashim Shettima flagged off the inaugural flight.
Pilgrims from 15 states and the Armed Forces were part of this operation. Departure points included major airports across the country.
These airports included Abuja (serving Kogi and Benue), Maiduguri (Borno), and Yola (Taraba). Others were Ilorin (Ekiti and Ondo), Lagos (Edo and Armed Forces), and Owerri (Imo). Port Harcourt Airport also served Abia, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Rivers pilgrims.
Air Peace Commits to More Efficient Hajj Services
Captain Augustin Kamano, Air Peace’s Director of Flight Operations, praised the achievement. “This first phase was a demonstration of our operational strength and dedication to national service,” he said.
He added that Phase Two would begin on June 13 and end on July 2, 2025. “By the grace of God,” he noted.
Air Peace’s Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide, expressed gratitude. “We remain committed to excellence and national service. Our successful Hajj operations are a result of collaboration, professionalism, and the confidence placed in us by the Nigerian government and people,” she said.
She thanked the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), aviation and security agencies, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their support.
Air Peace has played a key role in Nigeria’s Hajj airlifts since 2019. The airline has continued to grow since it started operations in 2014. It is now Nigeria’s largest airline by fleet size and route network.
The airline’s performance reflects a broader dedication to supporting Nigeria’s development and spiritual needs.
With the next phase of the 2025 Hajj airlifts near, Air Peace says it will maintain high safety and comfort standards for all pilgrims.
