Suspended Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for helping to stop the recent political crisis in the state. He urged his supporters, Rivers residents, and Nigerians to also thank the President.
Fubara said Tinubu acted quickly and wisely to avoid a complete breakdown of law and order. He described the President’s move as timely and life-saving.
“If not for Mr President, the story today would have been different,” Fubara said. “He acted with wisdom at the right time.”
The Governor spoke in Port Harcourt during a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement, as part of events to mark his second year in office.
He explained that the peace and reconciliation process had already begun and was making progress. This process, he said, would restore both the executive and legislative arms of government.
Fubara Assures of Reconciliation and Stability
Fubara stated that efforts were ongoing to rebuild trust and bring unity back into the government. He said this would help Rivers State enjoy the benefits of democracy once again.
“The issues will soon be resolved, and you will come back to your offices,” Fubara told his supporters. “I believe that the strong relationships we had before will return.”
He stressed the importance of forgiveness and appealed to those angry with his decisions to understand that he acted for peace. He also acknowledged that many people made sacrifices and remained loyal during the crisis.
“We have to come down from our high horses, and subject ourselves to the peace process,” he said. “What is important is for the State to move forward.”
Meetings Held for Peace Between Fubara and Wike
Governor Fubara revealed that several meetings had already been held to resolve the crisis. He disclosed that some of the meetings took place at the Abuja residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike.
“There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my Oga,” Fubara stated, referring to Wike. “There will be peace. We are meeting. We will reconcile.”

The Governor promised to keep working for the development of Rivers State. He said his focus remained on good governance, unity, and delivering services to the people.
Fubara also thanked Nigerians who supported him and said he remained loyal to them.
“I want to earn the respect of the people, not force it on them. I’m with you completely,” he added.
